Do you like ice cream? Of course you do! Just about everyone living in San Francisco apartments for rent love this sweet and tasty treat. Did you know that there is an entire museum dedicated to this sweet and frosty goodness? There is and it’s right in the heart of San Francisco my friends.

Out of all of the previous locations for the Museum of Ice Cream, the locations in Los Angeles, Miami, and New York have all come and gone at this point. The San Francisco location is the only permanent location and since it’s the best of the bunch, it’s definitely good that it is still around to tell everybody about the history of ice cream and much more.

So, if you’ve ever wanted to know more about ice cream then you ever imagined possible, visiting this museum is going to be a real treat – pun intended! You’ll learn about the museum, discover things that you’ve never expected, and you’ll even have an opportunity to visit some of the other local attractions in the neighborhood that we’ll tell you about.

Without further interruption, let’s discover more about the Museum of Ice Cream below.

The History of the Museum of Ice Cream

The Museum of Ice Cream was originally founded in the state of New York by Manish Vora and Mary Ellis Bunn. Believe it or not, this museum hasn’t been around for very long since it only first showed up in NYC as part of an experiential art project between July and August 2016.

Yes, the first time this museum was ever showcased was in the meatpacking district in Manhattan in a 5000 square-foot space. The event was a huge success and the initial press release caused quite a stir so the museum ended up selling out in the three days which is absolutely amazing.

Since the first event in New York was so successful, they decided to have another one in the city of Los Angeles. The LA location opened up in La la land’s downtown art district in April and it’s going to go all away until October.

Just to be clear, the Ice Cream Museum is a pop-up museum in most instances. It will pop up every now and then in major cities all throughout the United States. So far, the museum has been in San Francisco, LA, Miami, and New York City. Who knows? It may end up in a city near you in no time at all.

But if you really would like to visit this amazing museum, the next place to do so is in San Francisco. Tickets are on sale right now, so do not hesitate and get all of your friends and family to go with you because you could end up having a fun and exciting outing that you never expected could be possible with ice cream.

Important Information about the San Francisco Museum of Ice Cream

As mentioned previously, tickets to the MOIC are on sale right now for the SF version of this spectacular event. It’s going to be held at 1 Grand Ave. in San Francisco California, it’s permanent location. The museum is open from Monday to Sunday from 10 AM to 8:50 PM.

You are going to be buying tickets based on a slot by slot basis. As an example, if you are buying a ticket for the 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM time slot, you have to arrive prior to 2:50 PM in order to gain entrance into the venue. Your tickets are not valid if you miss your allotted time slot, so you definitely have to keep this in mind because you do not want to unintentionally miss this exciting exhibition.

For those of you trying to buy tickets to a sold-out event, you could actually sign up to their mailing list to find out when and where the Museum of Ice Cream will be next. So that’s always a good practice to follow if you’re having a difficult time getting tickets right now, although at the time of this writing tickets are still available in San Francisco.

Lastly, all tickets cost $38 to enter into the exhibition. And if you bring a child that is two years old or younger they are allowed to enter into the museum for free.
